The Get Down mal angetestet hatte...)

Vielleicht ist die Stratgieanpassung erst jetzt gekommen. Nachdem man mit Marco Polo, Sense8 und The Get Down wohl drei teure Flops hatte.

‘Tremors’ Reboot Starring Kevin Bacon From Blumhouse Gets Syfy Pilot Order

The long-gestating Tremors reboot, headlined by original star Kevin Bacon, is a go. Syfy has given a pilot order to the project from Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Television, with Bacon reprising his role from the 1990 cult classic film.

In the new Tremors written by Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle), the killer Graboid worms that nearly destroyed Perfection, NV, 25 years ago are back, and the town’s only hope for survival is Valentine McKee (Bacon), who beat them once. But to do it again he’ll have to overcome age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.

Miller, who serves as showrunner, executive produces along with Bacon, David Schiff (Southpaw) and Jessica Rhoades.

“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, ‘Where would this guy end up after 25 years?’ ” said Bacon. “Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it, and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”

'Sense8' Two-Hour Finale Set at Netflix
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-f ... ix-1017948

Sense8 has a gift for its fans: A two-hour finale episode is in the works for the canceled Netflix series, the show announced on Twitter Thursday.

The news came in the form of a letter from co-creator Lana Wachowski, who helmed the most recent second season of the sci-fi series when sister Lilly Wachowski took a step back. The pair created the show with J. Michael Straczynski.

"The outpouring of love and grief that came in the wake of the news that Sense8 would not be continuing was so intense, that I often found myself unable to open my own email. I confess I fell into a fairly serious," began Lana Wachowski. "I had never worked so hard, or put so much of myself into a project as I had with Sense8 and its cancellation hollowed me out."

Calling out the "impossibilities" her crew achieved — the second season filmed in 16 cities and 11 countries to capture the stories of its global cast — and the sadness from the cast, especially the eight stars who make up Sense8's starring "cluster," the showrunner said the passion from the fans, who created a petition to bring the series back, was most humbling.

"As the characters in our show discover that they are not alone. I too have learned that I am not just a me. I am also a we," she said. "While it is often true that these decisions are irreversible, it is not always true."

She continued in the letter directed to the fans, "Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life."
Wurde das Wehklagen doch noch erhört.

Richtig so.

btw. Interessiert außer mir niemanden, aber F is For Family wurde ebenfalls verlängert.

It star Bill Skarsgård is boarding another Stephen King project.

The 26-year-old has been cast as a series regular in Hulu’s psychological horror series Castle Rock, where he’ll play a young man with an unusual legal problem.

Also starring Andre Holland (Moonlight), Sissy Spacek (Bloodline), Melanie Lynskey (Togetherness), and Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Castle Rock” is described as a psychological-horror drama set in the Stephen King multiverse that combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, has served as the setting for many of King’s books, including “Cujo,” “The Dead Zone,” and “The Body.” The series landed a 10-episode order.

Manhattan‘s Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason are developing the series for television and executive-produce alongside J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson, and Liz Glotzer. It will begin production later this year.

Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix trilogy) are set for lead roles opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in five-part limited series Patrick Melrose (fka Melrose). In addition, Edward Berger (Deutschland 83, Jack) has been tapped to direct.

The project, a co-production of Showtime and Sky Atlantic, is based on the Patrick Melrose series of semi-autobiographical novels written by Edward St. Aubyn. David Nicholls (Far From the Madding Crowd) is penning the TV adaptation.

Melrose skewers the upper class as it tracks the protagonist’s harrowing odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood through adult substance abuse and, ultimately, toward recovery. Leigh and Weaving will play Patrick Melrose’s (Cumberbatch) parents. Anna Madeley, who also joins the cast, will play Melrose’s wife.

With each episode devoted to one of the five novels, the series will encompass the saga of Patrick Melrose’s life, from his horribly abusive youth at the hands of his father (Weaving) and the mother who tacitly condones the behavior (Leigh), to the outrageous playboy he becomes and the struggles he endures to defy the damage of his own past. The limited series will be a true television saga, from Nicholls’ adaptation, sweeping through the South of France in the 1960s, New York in the 1980s and Britain in the early 2000’s.

Guys and gals,

I am in a state of absolutely boiling rage right now.

I just kept Denise on the phone for 20 minutes making her listen to me scream. I hope she conveys to you what the tenor of it, because you need to grasp my fury. I have never been a screamer, but I am now. The work being done on this episode has turned me into one. Congratulations, you all accomplished what I thought was impossible. You’ve turned me into a raging asshole. Thanks a lot, you fuckers.

Everybody, especially our directors, better wake the fuck up and pay attention. Or I will start killing people and throwing bodies out the door.

Fuck you all for giving me chest pains because of the staggering fucking incompetence, blindness to the important beats, and the beyond-arrogant lack of regard for what is written being exhibited on set every day. I deserve better than a heart attack because people are too stupid to read a script and understand the words.
Does anybody disagree with me? Then join the C-cam operator and go find another job that doesn’t involve deliberately fucking up my show scene by scene.

Please let’s stop invoking the “writers room.” There IS no writers room, which you know as well as I do. I am the writers room. The lazy fucking assholes who were supposedly going to be my showrunners threw that responsibility on me after wasting five months of my time.

If it were up to me, I’d have not only fired Chic Egles and Jack LoGuidice when they handed me the worst episode 3 script imaginable, I’d have hunted them down and fucking killed them with a brick, then gone and burned down their homes. I haven’t even spoken to those worthless talentless hack sons-of-bitches since their 3rd draft was phoned in after five months of all their big talk and promises that they’d dig deep and have my back covered.

They didn’t have my back, they rammed knives into it.

Professional courtesy is something one earns, and those douchebags have not earned mine. I don’t want to see them cc-ed on ANYTHING any more. They renounced that privilege by not even trying to live up to their job descriptions, by instead leaving me dangling in the wind like a hanged man. Calling their 103 “phoned-in” would be vastly overstating, because they were too busy wasting my time and your money to bother picking the damn phone up. Those fucking overpaid con artists.

I am profoundly let down by some of this footage. I’m boiling mad.

YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE MOTHERFUCKING SCRIPT! I EVEN CHOOSE MY GODDAMN COMMAS FOR A REASON! WHY AM I WORKING SO FUCKING HARD IF YOU’RE SHOOTING EVERYTHING SOME OTHER WAY THAT DOESN’T WORK?

....
In the first, dated June 13, 2011, Darabont is furious over what he deems to be an over-reliance on handheld footage. "You MUST calm down the camera operating," it begins. "This is turning out WAY more shaky-cam than I want. When I said please limit the handheld, it wasn’t a random suggestion... And the operators MUST be told to HOLD THE FUCKING SHOT!"

He goes on to wonder if the camera operator had "an epileptic seizure" and deems his footage to be "utterly demented and unusable shit.

"Tell these operators that if they cannot provide us footage that works, we need to replace them with people who can. What the fuck are we paying them for? Ray Charles could operate better," Darabont writes.

He goes on to complain about spotting the "same group of idiot crew" visible in the background of shots "having a circle jerk" and is rendered "boiling mad" at a character who fell out of frame while tumbling down a slope. "The camera misses him COMPLETELY... yet I hear the operator say, 'Wow, that was fantastic.' ... Really? You missed the fucking actor, you blind fucking moron!"

...
The source of his ire this time is the show's directors, whom he feels are not following his script direction and who "better wake the fuck up and pay attention. Or I will start killing people and throwing bodies out the door.”

Singling out one key moment in his script — "ANGLE CLOSES ON RICK, seething with fury" — Darabont asks, "What does that suggest? An important moment? It does to me. That’s why I fucking wrote it that way. I don’t spray random shit on the page. So why is it shot like random shit?"

He goes on to demand that the director responsible for the "boring-as-shit" scene be "replaced... He is an idiot. He needs to leave and take his seeing-eye dog with him. Because even his dog is blind."

Shane being chased by zombies on the Parkway and being rescued by the RV is a major element we must reshoot. Seeing those dailies today left me gobsmacked and thinking I should fake my own death, leave town, and live under an assumed name. There are some shots we can use from Gwyneth’s footage, but only shots. Right now the sequence doesn’t exist. Re-shooting this along with everything else is something we have to plan for. And I haven’t even vetted the goat farm stuff yet, but I can safely bet you a million dollars there are major problems there too.

Denise, I’m putting my anger and disappointment at Gwyneth aside when I say this. I promise I’m not being a hyperbolic wiseass.

Remember our experience with Allan Garfield on The Majestic? We were all so shocked because it was like he had no grasp of the basics of his craft? And it turned out later that he’d had a stroke he was unaware of? And a few months after we wrapped, the massive secondary stroke happened that put him permanently in the hospital?

I am honest-to-God wondering if Gwyneth hasn’t experienced the same thing. That’s how fundamentally fucked this footage is. It’s as if she’s totally lost her grasp of what to do. It’s like we yanked some kid with no experience out of high school and put her in charge of directing a show.
And what’s really weird is that she doesn’t seem to know it.
'Walking Dead' Lawsuit Spills Obscene Emails and Tales of Greed Over TV's Billion-Dollar Hit
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-es ... it-1020061

...
For example, a March 2014 statement to Darabont represented that the drama had earned more than $159 million in total gross receipts from inception to September 2013. But then came $13 million in distribution fees, another $11 million in distribution charges, and $160 million in production costs which included 12.5 percent for administrative overhead. That meant Walking Dead was allegedly in deficit to the tune of nearly $24 million, leaving profit participants empty.

The attorneys for Darabont and CAA say something is amiss.

“AMC has massively increased its own profits — and grossly reduced, if not eliminated, Plaintiffs’ profit participation —on the highest rated television series in cable history,” states a summary judgment memorandum filed in the case. “They have accomplished this by completely ignoring the contract’s protection against inter-company self-dealing.”

As evidenced by the inflammatory emails sent to his colleagues, Darabont may indeed have been a jerk. The question his lawyers are essentially putting forward: Does there exist an even bigger one in Hollywood?

Is Walking Dead Worth $30M Per Episode?

In the Walking Dead lawsuit, both sides are now asking a judge to read contracts and come to respective preferred interpretations. In doing so, they’ve dumped scores of exhibits before New York judge Eileen Bransten to lay the foundation for winning arguments.

Some of the information is salacious and will likely not factor into the case. For example, among the submissions is a “standards & practices” guide for producers of AMC shows that lays out such oddities as an allowance on the words “Jesus” and “Christ” but not “Jesus Christ” together. Shows are forbidden from using the words “goddamn” and “faggot,” but are allowed to use “shit,” “asshole,” “pendejo” (the Spanish word for asshole), and “pussy,” so long as the program doesn’t use more than four instances of such words in a given episode and the use is not sexual in nature.

Most of the attention in court papers, though, is directed at 2010 deals for Darabont and CAA (which got contingent profits for “packaging” the show’s creative elements) as well as an amendment the following year. The deals, which included flat fees for writing and directing services plus generous bonuses for Emmy and Golden Globe awards ($25,000 for each nomination, $50,000 for each win, which should put some unique perspective on today's Emmy award nominations), were primarily negotiated by Robert Getman, Darabont’s transactional counsel, and Roger Avar, a partner at Loeb & Loeb who handled AMC’s side.

...

According to the court papers, the license fees for Mad Men started out at $1.85 million per episode, Breaking Bad at $1.75 million, and Better Call Saul (a Breaking Bad spinoff) at $2.5 million, with negotiated bumps for subsequent seasons. By the end of its run, Mad Men, for example, would contribute about $4 million per episode to Lionsgate's coffers.

There are various ways to analyze whether the $1.45 million per episode license fee recorded by AMC during the first four seasons of Walking Dead was “comparable.” Thanks to a recent development (more on that in a moment), AMC is now imputing a license fee of $1.87 million to $2.4 million an episode.

Richard Marks, one of the plaintiffs’ experts, measures how much of the production costs were covered by the license fee, finding that 65 percent for the zombie show was inferior to the around 80 percent for the other three AMC shows.
Both he and James Dertouzos, another plaintiffs’ expert, also look at other factors like Walking Dead’s superior ratings to estimate what the show would have sold for if it had been on the open market. Dertouzos concludes that the show would be licensed for $23.2 million to $28.7 million per episode. On the other hand, AMC appears primed to emphasize the fact that almost every major network got a chance to air Walking Dead when it was initially shopped around almost a decade ago. At his deposion, Darabont’s CAA agent Bruce Vinokour had to recount the many networks that passed. (CBS wasn’t pitched because its demographic was seen as too old, and after NBC rejected a commissioned script from Darabont in 2005, ABC, Fox, FX and TNT turned down a shot at having Walking Dead.) In court papers, AMC pats itself on the back for taking a financial risk that others didn't. Of course, that was before the show was a hit. In Hollywood, renegotiations are common.

For now, the proper imputed license fee isn’t what a judge is being asked to decide. Darabont and AMC just want the judge to rule the contract mandates comparable treatment for licensing. A trial, still a couple years away thanks to an overloaded court docket in New York, would determine the rest. The plaintiffs say they will establish at trial that "a fair market license fee for TWD — the most popular show on television — is $20-30 million per episode."

“He totally delivered on this,” said Bloys further adding, “If we can do it for the right budget it makes sense. We’re talking to directors and we’re getting the cast together, which is not an easy task. Then we’re inclined to do it if we can get over those hurdles.”

“The script is terrific,” said Bloys.

Former cast members have been approached about their availability, Deadline has confirmed with reps.

In August 2015, HBO began preliminary discussions to bring Deadwood back. A year ago Bloys said that Milch was writing the script. From non-HBO sources we heard that Milch has draft that some of the former castmembers have read.

Currently HBO is in production on Westworld at the Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA. That’s the same western set were Deadwood was shot during its three season series run. For the most part, that same Deadwood set is still standing, and was also featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Milch also shot interiors for his surfer drama John from Cincinnati at Melody.

Not verzichten könnte (R.I.P.

At HBO’s summer TCA presentation, president of programming Casey Bloys gave an update on the status of True Detective, which had been awaiting a third season green light.

Bloys confirmed that Oscar-winning Moonlight actor Mahershala Ali has closed a deal to star in the potential third season of the anthology series. Bloys said that he had read five finished scripts. “They are terrific… I was very impressed and excited,” Bloys said. “We are talking to directors, and when we have a director we want to hire, it will be a go.”

He noted that a third season of True Detective is much further along than a potential second installment of The Night Of.

Steven Zaillian is yet to pitch an idea to HBO. “The good news about Steven Zaillian is that he will come to you when he’s ready, and when he comes to us, we’ll know he’s locked.”

A third installment of True Detective, from creator Nic Pizzolatto, has been in the works for a while, with HBO veteran David Milch coming on board earlier this year to work with Pizzolatto.
