Allerdings finde ich es Mind-boggling, dass sowas überhaupt noch in Serie geht. Jeder Versuch ein LOSTiges Serial auf die Beine zu stellen ist kläglichst gescheitert und Abrams selbst hat schon lange keinen Hit mehr zusammen bekommen. Ich find es klingt sehr interessant und ich freu mich auf jeden Fall drauf, aber das ist doch sowas von zum Scheitern verurteilt.

Die sagen sich wahrscheinlich auch, dass irgendwann mal wieder eine Serie dieser Art funktionieren muss ... und wenn die zu Hits werden, dann sind es wahre Goldminen für Buzz und DVD/Merchandisingverkäufe. Walking Dead ist zwar Cable und steuert nicht auf die Auflösung eines großen Rätsels zu, aber der Erfolg wird der Risikobereitschaft auch im Network Bereich nicht schaden.

Mir soll es nur recht sein. Ich schaue mir lieber ein durchwachsenes und vorzeitig eingestelltes Serial wie FlashForward an als das 1000-te solide Procedural wie Hawaii Five-O oder glattgebügelte Familiendramen wie Brothers and Sisters. Spätestens nach dem Verlauf dieser Season interessieren mich unter den Network-Dramen eigentlich nur noch Serials und Genreserien. Ausnahmen wie Chicago Code und Harry's Law bestätigen (wegen des Vertrauensvorschusses für die Autoren) die Regel. Vielleicht irgendwann mal wieder eine Krankenhausserie.

Und mit drei der besten und beliebtesten LOST-Darsteller an Board bekommen sie natürlich von der Geek Gemeinde einen extra Bonus.

DirecTV is getting out of the "save our show" business.

The satcaster's the 101 Network has become a hero among TV fans for giving a home to brilliant-but-about-to-be-canceled shows like "Friday Night Lights" and (up next) "Damages."

But the channel, exclusively available on DirecTV, is now preparing to shift into a new direction, focusing its original programming efforts on series that have never been seen in the U.S.

"What I like to do is go look for a diamond in the rough, maybe content that wasn't applicable for network television, maybe the financing couldn't work."

This shift in direction doesn't reflect dissatisfaction on DirecTV's part with its "Friday Night Lights" or "Damages" deals. Long said "Lights" has "done unbelievably" for DirecTV and that he's excited about the future episodes of "Damages," which unlike "Lights" will be exclusive to the 101, rather than getting second airings on its original network.

Ich hab die Serie sowohl im dt. TV (damals bei RTL) als auch im niederländischen TV gesehen -- jedenfalls eine Reihe von frühen Folgen (da lief's im O-Ton mit Untertiteln). Soweit ich mich erinnere war die Synchro solide gemacht.

Grundsätzlich ist es natürlich schade, dass 101 sich von der "Rettung" verabschiedet, aber die Tatsache, dass das Network neuen Content anbieten will finde ich sehr schön. Auch die Idee sich unter den abgelehnten Pilots oder Drehbüchern umzusehen ist nicht dumm.

Außerdem hat der Kerl ja auch noch eine Hintertür für herausragende Serien wie Deadwood offen gelassen.

Wahrscheinlich hoffen sie durch dieses Statement in erster Linie endlich ein bißchen Ruhe vor fanatischen Anhängern von absetzungsgefährdeten bzw. abgesetzten Shows zu bekommen. Ich möchte gar nicht wissen wieviele Briefe, Anrufe und Mails, die nach der Übernahme von Damages bekommen haben. Wahrscheinlich brauchte man allein für Legend of the Seeker, Rubicon, Terriers und Caprica schon 10 zusätzliche Supportkräfte. :lol:

Da können sie doch gleich mal Body Politic, Nikki & Nora, Nomads und Global Frequency zu sich nehmen. Vor allem letzteres wartet schon seit der ersten Ablehnung von WB auf eine weitere Pilot-Order. GF/Nikita wäre ein gutes Couple am Freitag.

Wenn ich mir deine Signatur ansehe, würde ich sagen, dass die Serie dir gefallen müsste. Guck am besten die Pilotfolge, die gibt ein durchaus gutes Bild für die gesamte Serie. Danach spielen sich Hanks und Bradford natürlich noch besser ein, so dass der Humor besser zündet, aber grundsätzlich ist der Pilot repräsentativ.
Ich gucke es ganz gern, bin aber auch nicht traurig, dass es bald vorbei ist.

Ist das nicht der zweite Versuch das Projekt umzusetzen, nachdem es mit Shiri Appleby vor Jahren nur beim Pilot blieb? Naja, TNT heißt, dass es es ein ordentlicher Pilot ist und danach wahrscheinlich langweilig wird und redlock noch einen Thread für sich allein hat.

Als großer Fan von Sportdramen wie Rocky, Million Dollar Baby oder The Wrestler stand Lights Out bei mir von Anfang an weit oben auf der Erwartungsliste und die starken Trailer haben das nur noch verstärkt. Getrübt wurde die Vorfreude nur kurzzeitig durch den Kommentar eines FX-Bosses als er Lights Out zusammen mit Justified und Terriers als Beispiel für die etwas mainstreamfreundlicheren Exemplare unter den neuen FX-Serien genannt hat.

Nachdem Justified in der zweiten Staffelhälfte noch zu einer echten FX-Serie wurde und Terriers auch überzeugt hat, klingt das aber weniger furchterregend. Durch den Flop von Terriers und den Quotensturz von Justified in den ersten Folgen dürfte der Plan zur schleichenden TNT-sierung sowieso schnell wieder verworfen werden. Einigen FX-Zuschauern war ja anscheinend schon die 3-te SOA Staffel zu harmlos. (Ich bin jetzt bei Folge 5 und auch wenn sie aufgrund des breiteren Plots nicht so viel Dampf hat wie die fast perfekte zweite Staffel, ist sie trotzdem schon in dieser Startphase wieder großartig.)

Abrams-produced Fox pilot Alcatraz, Abrams has recruited two more actors who have appeared on his previous series - Jonny Coyne and Jason Butler Harner - for the pilot. The drama project, from Warner Bros. TV and Abrams' Bad Robot, chronicles the efforts of a team of FBI agents tracking down a group of missing Alcatraz prisoners and guards who reappear in the present day. Coyne, who did a two-episode arc on Abrams' NBC drama Undercovers this fall, will play the lead role of Alcatraz Warden Edwin James. Harner, who guest starred in the pilot for Abrams' Fringe, will play the supporting role of Associate Warden E.B. Tiller who enjoys and abuses his power. The two join previously cast Garcia and Sarah Jones, who will play the female lead. Stage and film/TV actor Butler, repped by ICM and ATA Management, will next be seen in the indie Letters From the Big Man, which is expected to premiere at Sundance.

Brain Trust centers on disgraced police detective Billy Doyle (Sweeney) whose work is helped and hindered by a brilliant, strange and lovable trio of uber-geeks from a local think tank: Professor Nelson Kirby (Rees), Professor Franklin Gordon (Urie) and Professor Monica Ashton (Booth). Urie is with Gersh and Seven Summits; Rees with Fortitude and Principal.

Bird Dog centers on Gail McGrath (Eliza Dushku), a police officer in a small town whose NYC cop father becomes her partner. Normalerweise hab ich kein Problem damit Schauspieler auseinander zu halten, auch wenn ich Ryan Phillippe für die Justin-Timberlake-Story besetzen würde, war ich bei Inception der festen Überzeugung, dass Logan Marshall-Green mitspielt und war überrascht, dass es Tom Hardy war.
Der wiederum brachte mich zur (Mini)Serie "The Take", die mir ausgesprochen gut gefallen hat.

Kennt man ja noch gut aus dem Vorjahr, wie NBC da spektakulär mit seinen Flops jonglierte. Ich frag mich bloß wieder, wieso man das überhaupt auf 22 Folgen verlängert hat. In den letzten zwei Wochen stiegen die Quoten ja sogar an und trotzdem war es vom Start weg ein totaler Flop.

Starz has made a 10-episode commitment to Magic City, a period drama series that captures the collision of mobsters, politicians and entertainers at a posh Miami hotel just as Fidel Castro takes control of Cuba and shuts down Havana as a gambling haven. Mitch Glazer created the series and has written the first three episodes — he’ll write five more -- of a series that will start production early next year in Miami and will air on Starz in 2012.

It's being produced by Media Talent Group, whose CEO, Geyer Kosinski will be executive producer with Glazer and Tony To. The subject matter is a tightrope in dealing with the mob, his own complicated family, racial tensions and a city that is about to blow up as a destination for decadence. “Mitch has created a world populated with unforgettable characters and with a big dynamic story,” said Starz president/CEO Chris Albrecht in a statement. “The talented creative team that has come together for Magic City will ensure a show that we think audiences won’t want to miss.” Glazer based the series on his own recollection of growing up in Miami. “I was born and raised in Miami Beach, grew up in those swank hotel lobbies,” Glazer said. “I love that world and those stories. Miami in the early ‘60s was a tropical crossroads, America’s Casablanca. The Rat Pack, CIA, the mob, JFK and anti-Castro warriors, all hanging out in the same Collins Avenue nightclub.” Starz is putting together other series, but Magic City certainly harkens back to that Sopranos-style fare that was Albrecht's trademark at HBO.

Boardwalk Empire trifft Mad Men? Auf jeden Fall was für mich ...und wie schon bei der Politiker-Serie mit Frasier setzt Starz den erfreulichen Trend fort direkt eine komplette Staffel zu bestellen.
