Lost alum Naveen Andrews has been cast in the ABC pilot Reckless. Written/exec produced by Chris Black and directed/exec produced by Martin Campbell, the thriller centers on David (Patrick Fugit), a resourceful problem solver who, when his wife Sarah (Eloise Mumford) is unjustly imprisoned during a political uprising overseas, resorts to entering a world of political intrigue, dangerous alliances and high emotional stakes in order to get her out. Andrews will play Brit Roland Shaw, former SAS and a renegade who will do whatever it takes, for a price, to rescue Sarah. Andrews, repped by Gersh, Ellen Meyer Management, and attorney Rick Genow, recently wrapped the male lead role opposite Naomi Watts in the film Diana.

ABC’s Nashville is adding another heartthrob. The OC alum Chris Carmack is joining the soapy freshman drama as Will, a sexy and charming country singer and guitar player, the kind of guy men want to be friends with and women want to be with. Carmack will appear in six episodes this season, becoming a regular in Season 2. (ABC has not made renewals yet but Nashville is expected to get a pickup.) Carmack, repped by Innovative and Luber Roklin, has done extensive stage work on Broadway and in London.

Keine riesige Überraschung, aber scheinbar ist Nashville auch schon ziemlich nah an einem Season 2 Pick Up dran.

True Blood alumna Brit Morgan also has been cast in the pilot, written by Bruno Heller and directed by David Nutter. For McKenzie, the casting is in second position to Southland, which is currently airing its fifth season. The critically praised cop show, which originated on NBC, has never been a big ratings performer and is once again on the bubble, but it has been a prestige series for TNT, which has not made a decision on its future. Both The Advocates and Southland are produced by Warner Bros. TV. Advocates centers on lawyer Shannon Carter and ex-con Henry Bird (McKenzie) who team up as “victim advocates,” going to the very edge of the law to right wrongs and fight for the underdog. Morgan, repped by Innovative Artists, David Dean Management and lawyer Stuart Rosenthal, will play Henry’s sister Rose, a tattooed and pierced supermarket cashier.

Ein CBS Drama zu headlinen lässt aber nicht viel Platz für weitere Obligationen. Sollte der nicht an Southland gebunden sein? Kann es sein dass TNT quasi "heads up" gegeben hat, weil die Serie eh schon aus den letzten Löchern pfeift, oder ist er vertraglich einfach nicht für eine 6. Staffel gebunden und würde einfach regulär die Serie verlassen, falls Southland wider erwarten weiter läuft.

Einer der Community-Actors hat glaube ich auch bereits einen Pilot "in second position" gebucht und letztes Jahr hat auch einer der Cougar Town Darsteller in einem neuen Pilot mitgespielt...sprich das kommt bei Serien vor, die mit einer gewissen realistischen Wahrscheinlichkeit abgesetzt werden und die Pilot-Produzenten darauf "wetten"...

Das war ein besonders ungewöhnlicher Fall, weil die Rolle nicht neu besetzt wurde und im Pilot noch zu sehen war. Sein Happy Endings Kollege Adam Pally wurde bei Best Friends Forever einfach neu gecastet.
Nancy Travis hatte sogar zwei Rollen in einer Casting-Season und sowohl Hart Of Dixie als auch Last Man Standing gingen in Serie.

Under the Dome ist eine Adaption vom gleichnamigen Stephen King Roman, die als Miniserie im Sommer auf CBS laufen wird.

Einen Trailer gibts dazu aber noch nicht. Du wirst vermutlich den eher nichtsagenden Superbowl-Teaser gesehen haben...

Für alle die Angst um/wegen NBC und deren Umgang mit ''Hannibal'' haben. Die erste Staffel mit 13 Folgen ist so gut wie abgedreht. Also wird es zumindest eine vollständige (Halb-)Staffel geben.

Im Dezember ist vollkommen an mir vorbeigegangen, dass Bravo plant ins scripted Fach zu wechseln und die beiden Pilots "The Joneses" und "Rita" bestellte.

Bravo has decided to postpone production on one of its two scripted pilots, The Joneses. The network and producing studio ABC Studios have had difficulties casting the project, based on the 2009 indie film, which is competing with some 100 broadcast pilots and a few cable ones for talent. The pilot, which has one actor cast, Max Deacon, will now proceed with casting and production after the end of the broadcast pilot season. It is the second cable pilot to do so, joining USA’s Horizon. The Joneses is one of Bravo’s first two scripted pilots ordered in December. The other one, Rita, was cast and is proceeding with production.

The Joneses bietet sich natürlich wirklich sehr gut für eine Serie an, das könnte man dann durchaus noch etwas 'böser' gestalten als im Spielfilm.
Irgendwie ist es auch interessant zu sehen, dass es im Moment ein Hauen und Stechen um Darsteller gibt und dann ein Neuling wie Bravo einfach mal hinten anstehen muss. Allerdings durchaus mit dem Vorteil, dass man nach den Upfronts einen Schauspieler aus einem failed Pilot bekommen könnte, bei dem man aktuell keine Chance hätte.

Verliert es nach dem Wechsel nur minimal könnte es tatsächlich reichen. Hängt aber auch davon ab wie teuer die Show ist und wie das im Verhältnis zu internationalen Verkäufen usw. steht.

Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass die Serie trotz Dennis Quaid im Ausland nicht so gut an den Mann zu bringen ist, weil es eben doch etwas von einem Western hat. Bei den Kosten dürften zumindest die beiden großen Namen ins Geld gehen.
Um Golden Boy täte es mir stand jetzt sogar leid, Vegas blockiert für mich nur zwei Schauspieler.

True Blood Shake-Up: New Showrunner Out

True Blood is getting a new boss.

Mark Hudis, who took over for Alan Ball as showrunner for the upcoming sixth season, has been replaced by writer/co-executive producer Brian Buckner, per The Hollywood Reporter.


Hudis is stepping down to “to focus on development under his overall deal with the network,” a spokesperson for HBO told the site.
Buckner, who has been with the series since the start, will take the reigns on the sixth season, which is currently in production.

Hudis joined the HBO series in Season 4 as a co-executive producer. He was promoted to showrunner after Ball announced his plans to leave the vamp drama after Season 5 in order to focus his attention on his Cinemax original series Banshee, which was renewed in January.

In a major casting coup for NBC, the network has landed Oscar-nominated John Malkovich to topline new action-adventure series Crossbones, from Luther creator Neil Cross and feature producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald. He will play the notorious English pirate Blackbeard, a role Brit Hugh Laurie flirted with for awhile but ultimately did not commit.

The 10-episode Crossbones is set in 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (Malkovich), reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. Part shantytown, part marauder’s paradise, this is a place like no other on earth — and a mounting threat to international commerce. The series, originally picked up for this midseason, has not been slotted yet and will likely launch next season.

Bei fast jedem anderen Schauspieler wäre ich leicht enttäuscht, dass House die Rolle abgelehnt hat, aber Malkovich ist schon lange einer meiner Wunschkandidaten für eine Serie. Jetzt muss das Ding aber auch was taugen.

Roiling with ideas, given to rationalization, high-wired, often charmingly persuasive, divorced three years ago, also an inveterate ladies’ man, Ross has come up with a business model that he believes can make him and his team millions.
