Director Danny Boyle’s (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspottting, 127 Hours...) upcoming U.K. TV series Babylon

Created by Peep Show scribes Sam Bains and Jesse Armstrong, the cop comedy centers on an American new media expert (Brit Marling) who is hired to aid the PR of the London police department. Boyle directed the pilot for the show, and judging by this trailer it looks a bit like In the Loop by way of Boyle’s kinetic filmmaking style. There’s a solid amount of humor to be found, but it’ll be interesting to see how much that is balanced with the more dramatic aspects of, you know, people dying.

The show also stars James Nesbitt. The pilot premieres on Channel 4 in the U.K. on February 9th with the full six-episode first season to follow later this year.

Peep Show und Fresh Meat habe ich nicht gesehen, aber die beiden Autoren haben auch die provokative und äußerst empfehlenswerte Terrorismus-Komödie "Four Lions" mitverfasst. Boyle steht sowieso außer Frage( er inszeniert nur den Piloten. Dafür übernimmt "Filth" Regisseur Jon S. Baird 3 der restlichen Episoden) und der Cast kann sich auch sehen lassen. Neben Fortitude wohl der interessanteste britische Neustart des Jahres. Nur schade, dass nach der Ausstrahlung des Pilotfilms (angeblich ~70 Minuten) wohl Monate bis zum Start der regulären 6 Folgen vergehen werden.
