TV (The Book) wurde von Alan Sepinwall und Matt Zoller-Seitz verfasst und als völlig subjektiver TV-Kanon angelegt. Die beiden hatten jeweils 60 Punkte, 10 in einer von 6 Kategorien, zu verteilen. Für die Top 100 waren (fast) nur beendete Serien berücksichtigt worden, die meisten Kids-Shows wurden ausgelassen, sowie Dokumentationen, Reality-TV, Mini-Serien und TV-Filme. Wie man sehen kann wurden die Regeln nicht immer beachtet, aber im Buch wurde der subjektive Aspekt und der "Das ist unser Buch, also... who cares?"-Teil ziemlich hervorgehoben. Denke die Top 100 ist trotzdem ziemlich interessant.

Wenn nur eine der beiden Autoren Authorität über die Qualität einer Serie hatte, wurden dessen Punkte einfach verdoppelt.
Die ersten fünf Plätze hatten am Ende die gleiche Anzahl an Punkten, woraufhin eine sehr interessante Diskussion der beiden entstand, die am Beginn des Buches abgedruckt wurde. Besonders The Wire vs. The Sopranos (Zoller-Seitz war hier für The Sopranos und Sepinwall für The Wire) und warum die Simpsons den ersten Platz verdienen (Sepinwall hat für Simpsons gekämpft) waren sehr interessant.
