Zwischen Batman &Robin und Batman Begins lagen aber wenigstens 8 Jahre und es war auch für die breite Masse unmissverständlich, dass es eine komplette Abkehr von den alten Filmen wird. Mit Jackman wird das gerade mal 3 Jahre später eben doch nur als X-Men Origins: Wolverine II wahrgenommen. Die Erfolgaussichten sind da selbst bei einem kreativen Erfolg eher gering. Damit Aronofsky Narrenfreiheit auch bei Großprojekten erlangen kann, darf seine erste Blockbuster-Produktion nicht gleich floppen.
D.J. Caruso kann weiter seine Teenie-Blockbuster machen, für Wolverine brauche ich keinen zweiten Brett Ratner.
Einer der Kategorie könnte es jetzt aber sehr gut werden. Die Zeit wird ja auch langsam knapp. Bestenfalls ein Regisseur, der ein starkes Debüt geliefert hat oder einer, dessen Name durch ein paar Flops gelitten hat. Ich kann mir jedenfalls nicht vorstellen, dass die Produzenten nochmal etwas annähernd in Aronosfkys Kategorie an Land ziehen. Gibt ja auch nicht viel.
Hauptsache Caruso bleibt von Preacher und Y - The Last Man fern. Kurz nachdem ich das gestern gepostet hatte, habe ich ein Interview gelesen, das endgültig jede Zuversicht in seine Tauglichkeit zerschmettert hat.

Just about a month ago now, D.J. Caruso officially confirmed his involvement as the director of an upcoming adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic book series "Preacher." The project has been brewing for a long time in Hollywood, and now it finally seems to be coming together.
In a recent overseas interview pegged to the release of Caruso's "I Am Number Four" the director spoke at length about the coming adaptation, casting, and the challenges of porting such a potentially controversial story over to the big screen.
"It is a crazy road trip and I think what’s amazing and what makes Sony so brave is they can see there’s a real universality to the story when you have good vs. evil," he told CloneWeb. "I think when you have these crazy characters, that are not necessarily politically correct, there’s something generally attractive to those characters and those elements."
"But at the end of the day it really is a story about good vs. evil and the decisions that you make," he added. "So I think there’s a great universality that makes the movie commercial but at the same time it’s one of those that will shock you."
The interviewer then turned the topic to casting, pressing Caruso for some information. While nothing formal has been discussed, the director admitted that he's never received so many calls and texts from actors who want a part in his upcoming movie. Pressed again for details, he finally relented and dropped a few choice nuggets.
"An actor I love very much and who I've had a conversation with is Chris Pine, for Jesse [Custer, the main character]," he said.
"Shia LaBeouf loves Arseface. He wants to play Arseface. So we're kind of working that out," he said, just before a cough is heard offscreen. Alex Pettyfer, Caruso's "Number Four" star, also participated in the interview, and prompted the director to add one more possibility to the pile.
"And this guy right here," said Caruso, indicating Pettyfer, "he's really thinking that the Saint of Killers is a really good role. Even though he hasn't read it yet, but he will. We'll see. I really am excited by all of the possibilities I have."
Caruso also confirmed that John August is still working on the script, and is currently grappling with the challenge of putting the entire story into one movie — so put your hopes for a trilogy to rest.
Shia LaBeouf könnte ich mir ja noch bestens als Arschgesicht vorstellen ^^, aber Chris Pine fehlt einfach das Charisma für die Hauptrolle. Pettyfer ist zum Glück nur ein Witz. Zumindest für den Saint of Killers.
Am schlimmsten ist aber, dass es jetzt nicht mal eine Trilogie werden soll. Rund 2000 Seiten Comic mit zahlreichen Nebenstories, Rückblenden und Charakteren auf 2 Stunden runtergekürzt. Da fehlen nur noch Robert Pattinson als Cassidy, Tara Reid als Tulip und ein PG-13 um das Grauen perfekt zu machen. ...und so ein Stoff würde dann natürlich nicht gleich nach 2 Jahren rebooted, sondern wieder für 20 Jahre im Giftschrank verschwinden. Danke HBO, dass ihr die Serie damals nicht bestellt habt. Arschlöcher. :twisted:
