Single'd Out: ABC Pulls Plug on Alyssa Milano Show
Alyssa Milano fans will have to wait a little longer to see her headline a new series.
ABC nixed the mid-season comedy, Single with Parents, in which Milano's character balances her dysfunctional family, friends and boss. The network cited "creative differences" with the show's creator, Kristin Newman, and producing team, according to the Reporter.
Single was one of five new series for which ABC ordered pickups in August, but was reportedly delayed several times over its direction, until the ultimate axing.
Three more half-hour comedies are still on tap for the network, including In the Motherhood, Better off Ted and The Goode Family, a cartoon from King of the Hill creator Mike Judge. The Bill Lawrence/Courteney Cox pilot Cougar Town could soon join them on the roster.
Were you already getting warmed up for Milano's new series? Now that Single got the boot, what kind of series do you think she should helm?

ABC is looking to reduce the order on two of its midseason drama series, "The Castle" and "The Unusuals."Dann wäre da noch der neue Trailer zur zweiten Damages-Staffel, welcher sehr gut aussieht, ebenso wie der neue Dollhouse-Trailer . Oh und "Dirty Sexy Money" driftet noch mehr in die übersoapigen Meere von Melrose Place ab. Schade, dass die Serie so dämlich geworden ist.
The network has cut the order for "Castle," which hails from its sister studio, from 13 to 10.
It also has approached Sony TV, producer of "The Unusuals," for the same type of episode cutback.
"Castle" stars Nathan Fillion as a horror novelist who helps the NYPD solve crimes.
"The Unusuals" is an ensemble dramedy set in a New York police precinct co-starring Amber Tamblyn.
The order reductions came the same day ABC pulled the plug on midseason comedy series "Single With Parents."
Sources close to the network stress that the cutbacks are not for creative but for inventory reasons, as ABC has "Lost" as well as six new scripted series launching in midseason, "Castle," "Unusuals," hourlong "Cupid" and comedies "In the Motherhood," "Better Off Ted" and "The Goode Family." They could be joined by the Bill Lawrence/Courteney Cox comedy "Cougar Town," which was fast-tracked last week with a pilot order targeted for midseason.
