British actor Theo James has landed the lead in CBS’ drama pilot Golden Boy, from Nick Wootton and Greg Berlanti. The project, produced by Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Prods., centers on Clark (James), a cop, and chronicles his meteoric rise from officer to detective and ultimately police commissioner. Ryan Phillippe was originally tapped for the role but exited shortly thereafter, triggering a lengthy auditioning process that resulted in the casting of James. James, who has a handful of credits in his native Britain, is virtually unknown in the U.S. aside from a guest spot in the first season of Downton Abbey where he played Kemal Pamuk, the Turk who died in Lady Mary’s bed. He made his Hollywood debut in the recent Underworld: Awakening. James is the latest non-American actor to get the lead in a pilot this pilot season.

Ich mochte den in dieser schlechten Sky-Mystery-Serie Bedlam, wobei selbst der kein Grund dafür war, um den Mist weiterzuschauen. Ich glaube aber auch, dass Ryan Philippe der bessere Schauspieler ist.

The project, written by Robert Doherty, is set in present day and stars Miller as eccentric Brit Sherlock Holmes, a former consultant to Scotland Yard whose addiction problems led him to a rehab center in New York City. Just out of rehab, Holmes now lives in Brooklyn with “sober companion” Joan Watson (Liu) while consulting for the NYPD. Quinn will play NYPD Captain Gregson who worked with Sherlock at Scotland Yard after 9/11 and was so impressed with his work that he has invited him to work as a consultant to the police in New York City. Gregson grew accustomed to Sherlock’s “eccentricities” in the U.K., but knows they won’t necessarily fly in the Big Apple. Michael Cuesta is directing the pilot, produced by CBS TV Studios and Timberman/Beverly. Netflix Eyes Cancelled Drama ‘Terra Nova’

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is already bringing back one cancelled 20th Century Fox TV series, the Emmy-winning Arrested Development. Now the video streaming giant is taking a look at another, drama Terra Nova. I hear that 20th TV and Netflix have been in talks about keeping the pre-historic drama alive. My sources stress that the conversations are preliminary and it is unclear if they will materialize into a negotiation, but for fans of the series left heartbroken by Fox’s decision on Monday not to pick it up for a second season, this is still encouraging news. Immediately after Fox made its cancellation decision, 20th TV made it clear that it would try hard to find a new home for the series and shop it to other networks.

It would make a sense for Terra Nova, a Top 10 DVR gainer, to get a second life on a streaming service like Netflix. During its freshman run, the series‘ 18-49 rating grew on average 44% in Live+7 vs. Live+Same say. In Live+7, the drama starring Jason O’Mara logged a respectable 3.6/9 among adults 18-49. 20th TV, which declined comment, too has an incentive to keep Terra Nova alive as the series, featuring CGI dinosaurs and branded with executive producer Steven Spielberg’s name, is a big international seller. But making a second season of a big-budget series like Terra Nova work financially without a lucrative broadcast network license fee would be very challenging. Yet, 20th and Netflix already reached an agreement once on a high-end show, a new season of Arrested Development, so while not very likely, a deal for Terra Nova won’t be impossible. Keep the faith, fans….

Kann mir nicht vorstellen, das Netflix das wirklich machen wird. Wir reden hier von Kosten die nochmal in die House of Cards Richtung gehen (um das es übrigens sehr still geworden ist) für eine unfassbar Familienfreundliche Sendung, was meinem begrenzten Wissen über Netflix nach nicht unbedingt in ihr Konzept passt. Mit der Jenji Kohan Serie, Arrested Development, Lily Hammer und House of Cards hat man bereits einiges investiert ohne zu wissen ob ihnen das im Kampf gegen Amazon usw. überhaupt den erhofften Vorteil bringen wird.
Aber, who knows, die scheinen ja endlose finanzielle Ressourcen zu haben, vermutlich könnten sie einen 50,60 Dollar Deal für 13 weitere Terra Nova Folgen aus der Kaffeekassa zahlen. :roll:

Ich halte es auch für unwahrscheinlich das sie Terra Nova übernehmen (auch wenn es durchaus Sinn ergeben würde, denn die Serie hat ja ein relativ großes live + 7 Stammpublikum und das Studio würde wegen der gut laufenden Auslandsverkäufe keine Unsummen verlangen), aber die Budgetprobleme um Fincher können Netflix egal sein solange das Produktionsstudio MRC nicht pleite geht oder sich das Theater auf die Qualität auswirkt.

Wer sagt denn, dass Netflix dieses Konzept beibehalten müssen? Der Cliffhanger der ersten Season ist frei interpretierbar, da kann man zur Not das Budget kürzen und digitalen Green-Screen-Trash a la SPARTACUS fahren, denke ich. MAD MAX meets irgendwelche Zeitreise-Abenteuer, unterschiedliche Zivilisationen aus unterschiedlichen Epochen der Erdgeschichte - so wie Alpha (oder war das Stefan?) das ganze schon mal weiterfantasiert hatten ... TERRA NOVA 2.0 - THE REBOOT sozusagen.

Aus Sicht von Netflix wäre eine Übernahme von Terra Nova vielleicht nicht mal dumm. Klar, das Budget ist verhältnismäßig, aber dafür hat die Serie schon ein recht großes Stammpublikum und Netflix hätte eine Serie, die schon halbwegs etabliert ist. Da bis auf Lilyhammer noch keine Eigenproduktion läuft, würde ich auch nicht sagen, dass Netflix bereits ein bestimmtes Profil hat.

In Band of Brothers fand ich ihn zwar gut, aber das war auch mein Gedanke. Wirkt nicht nur wegen seines Äußeren immer ein bißchen blass.

Vielleicht sollten sie ihm einfach einen Bart verpassen. In seiner Captain Amerika Nebenrolle hat er mich nämlich das erste mal seit BOB voll überzeugt.

In Justified erinnert er mich jedes Mal an seine Rolle in Walking Tall. Der ist einfach wie geschaffen für solch eine schmierige Figur.

Schmierig war er in Boomtown auch, deshalb habe ich das neben BoB noch aufgezählt. Das waren die beiden Rollen, in denen er mir grundsätzlich positiv auffiel, aber eben ohne zu glänzen. Beide Serien hatten einfach einige bessere Charaktere, zB jeweils die von Donnie Wahlberg gespielte Figur.

Ich hoffe eben immer noch, dass The 4400 endlich seinen qualitativen Nachfolger findet, sprich es endlich wieder mal den positiven Ausreisser gibt bei USA.

White Collar scheint es nämlich entgegen redlocks Aussagen (und sofern ich das nach 4 Episoden beurteilen kann) leider auch nicht zu sein, sondern scheint genau wie Burn Notice nur ein seichtes Procedural zu sein, welches sich gerne als gute, serialisierte Serie verkleidet, es aber einfach nicht ist (wobei zumindest die Character-Chemistry bei White Collar besser ist als bei Burn Notice).

Seine Rolle in Justified steht ihm wirklich ausserordentlich gut!
Zwar kann ich ihn mir nicht so sehr als guten Cop vorstellen, das "ruthless" hat McDonough aber bereits in die Wiege gelegt bekommen. LA Noir könnte ihm stehen. Milo muss allerdings noch überzeugen :oops:

Vanessa Williams Lands at ABC's Supernatural 666 Park Avenue



Desperate Housewives‘ Vanessa Williams is the latest in-demand actor to call 666 Park Avenue home, having been added to the cast of ABC’s supernatural-tinged drama pilot.

TVLine has learned that Williams will play Olivia, who, with husband Gavin (Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn), owns the historic luxury apartment building at the center of the drama.

Williams thus becomes the first of the Desperate housewives to book a pilot, as the sudser inches towards its series finale.

Previously announced cast for the buzzy pilot include Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters) and Rachael Taylor (Grey’s Anatomy) as marrieds newly signed on to manage the property, and Mercedes Masohn (The Finder) and Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill) as fashion photog Louise and playwright Brian, another couple who lives at the ominous address.

Der Pilot hört sich langsam an wie ein Who is who der ABC-Stars. Freut mich, dass Vanessa Williams schon was Neues hat. Hoffe, sie wird in der Serie besser genutzt als in Desperate Housewives.

Von den 5 ABC-Dramas die mich auf dem Papier interessieren, steht 666 zwar an 5. Stelle, aber ich kann mir durchaus vorstellen, dass man aus der Prämisse eine gute Serie machen könnte.

Bei mir sieht es bei ABC nach momentanem Casting- und Informationsstand so aus:
1.Last Resort
2.Emmerichs Sci-Fi Serie
3.Zero Hour
4.Gotham / Beauty and the Beast
6.666 Park Ave
Gefolgt von Penoza, Nashville, Gilded Lilys und Americana, die allesamt einen guten Cast (und im Falle von Penoza und Lilys auch recht interessante Prämissen) haben, aber die ich höchstwahrscheinlich nicht länger als 1-2 Episoden schauen würde.
