Sierra/Engine Television (NBC’s Crossbones) has teamed with producer Michael Ohoven (Capote) from Infinity Media to distribute and produce 13-episode drama series Siberia. It is set in the remote Siberian territory of Tunguska, location of the largest impact event on Earth, the massive 1908 explosion, believed to have been caused by a meteoroid or comet, which knocked down some 80 million trees over an area of 830 square miles. More than 100 years later, 16 reality-show contestants descend on Tunguska unknowing of the land’s mysterious past. When a contestant is badly injured and no help arrives the contestants realize that the strange occurrences are not part of the show. With their safety threatened, competing contestants must band together in an effort to survive. The series, said to be in the vein of The Blair Witch Project, is currently in production with 6 episodes completed. Sierra/Engine will handle worldwide distribution with a launch at MIPTV next month. The timing is fortunate given the extensive worldwide coverage of the big meteor explosion in Russia a month ago. Ohoven and Sierra/Engine CEO Chris Philip executive produce.

Mere days after canceling Enlightened after two seasons, HBO has picked up one of its comedy pilots to series.
The premium cable network has given a six-episode series order to Getting On, a reformat of the BAFTA Award-winning comedy series of the same name, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The HBO adaptation hails from Big Love creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer and their Anima Sola Productions banner, who penned the pilot for BBC Worldwide Productions. Anima's senior vp Lisa Bellomo will produce alongside BBC Worldwide Productions' Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner. Original series producer Geoff Atkinson will also serve as an EP. The series order puts HBO back in business with Olsen and Scheffer two years after Big Love ended its five-season run on the network.
The comedy is set in a women's geriatric wing at a beleaguered hospital and revolves around its rag-tag nurses, doctors and administrators as they struggle with the realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system.
Roseanne's Laurie Metcalf, Family Guy's Alex Borstein, Reno 911's Niecy Nash and newcomer Joel Johnstone (who also has a role in season two of HBO's Newsroom) star.
The original series ran for three seasons (and 15 total episodes), earning a BAFTA win for actress in a comedy for Jo Brand and a writing nom for writers-stars Brand, Vicki Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan, among critical recognition.
Der Cast gefällt mir nicht gerade, aber es wird mal wieder Zeit für eine echte Krankenhaus-Comedy. Nurse Jackie streift das ja nur sehr am Rande.
