Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the network is having preliminary conversations to adapt the iconic Marvel comic series — and feature film franchise — as a live-action television series with 24 producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto involved.
Fox's potential live-action series is being penned by Star Trek 3 writing duo Patrick McKay and JD Payne, sources tell THR, who will share a created by credit on the project with Katz and Coto. Katz and Coto will serve as showrunners.
Fox declined comment on Katz, Coto, McKay and Payne's involvement.
Fox studio counterpart 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the film franchise (with seven features already released based on X-Men characters). While conversations to bring the franchise to the small screen are under way, sources indicate a deal is far from complete with Marvel — which owns the comic rights — still having to sign off on the deal.

David Tennant cast as Marvel villain in Netflix series

Another Time Lord is coming to the Marvel universe. The studio has cast David Tennant as the major villain in its upcoming Netflix series A.K.A. Jessica Jones. The Doctor Who and Gracepoint star will play Zebediah Killgrave (also known as The Purple Man).
The official series description: “After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter, ABC’s Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23) is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past, Kilgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world.”
In the comics, Kilgrave can produce pheromones which give him the power to control people’s minds as long as he’s physically nearby. He also can recover from severe injuries very quickly and is, quite literally, purple. But it’s not clear yet how closely Marvel’s series will stick to the comic version of the character. “I’m so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character,” said Melissa Rosenberg. “He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain.”
A.K.A. Jessica Jones has a 13-episode series order and will premiere on Netflix sometime later this year.
Ich nehme mal stark an, dass er in der Serie nicht lila sein wird. Ansonsten haben sie wieder einen interessanten Darsteller für den Bösewicht gefunden.
Amazon Orders ‘Casanova’ Drama Pilot
http://deadline.com/2015/01/casanova-dr ... 201310924/

Casanova chronicles a little known period in the life of one of world history’s most famous libertines and playboys. After Giacomo Casanova’s wicked escapades run afoul with the inquisitors in his native Venice, he is sent to prison. The drama focuses on what happens next -- after escaping, the once materialistic and womanizing Casanova moves to Paris with nothing, determined to start his life over.
There he met with royalties and luminaries, introduced the state lottery, which made him rich, and traveled. Casanova’s memoir, which he wrote in French, is considered one of the most important testaments of 18th century European customs and norms.
Silverman, who has produced period dramas The Tudors on Showtime and Marco Polo on Netflix, approached Zicherman about doing a Casanova series. Zicherman admits he wasn’t keen on the idea originally because “I thought I knew everything there was to know about Casanova.” That is until he did more research and found out about the prison break and 18-year exile. “I thought the whole idea of Casanova living in exile in Paris was great,” he said.
Zicherman called Casanova “misunderstood.” “He was not a Don Juan, he never was the greatest lover going for notches on his bedposts. He loved women deeply, finding something to love about each of them — how she laughed, how she smelled, how the hair fell on her shoulders. He also was a great writer, a musician, he was very studious and was interested in Kabbalah, dark arts and mysticism.”
Above all, “he was a very modern man, a person who wanted his senses heightened at all time,” said Zicherman, who wrote the script and is executive producing with Silverman.
Hoffentlich nicht wieder eine Billig-Variante. Das kann man sich bei dem optischen Level der anderen großen Kostümschinken auch im TV einfach nicht mehr erlauben.
