The stars of Channel 4 show Skins have apparently been axed - because they are too expensive.

It seems the show will return for a third series in 2009 - but with a cast of new faces because of the tight budget, reports the Daily Star.

Apparently April Pearson, 18, who plays Michelle and Mike Bailey, 19, who plays Sid, will not have their contracts renewed. Producers are hoping to persuade Nicholas Hoult, who plays Tony, to stay for more episodes by offering him the chance to direct.

The 18-year-old - who shot to fame alongside Hugh Grant in About A Boy - has already directed mini-web episodes which are due to air online, alongside the second series this year but now bosses want him to take a directing part when the third series starts shooting in Bristol.

Harry Enfield directed a quarter of the forthcoming second series, which starts next month.

ich hoffe es stimmt nicht, währe aber sehr ungewöhnlich für ne UK Serie, vor allem da Skins zum echten Hit geworden ist und ich nicht glaube das man das aufs Spiel setzt indem man das Cast austauscht.

Ich denke auch, dass hier nur heiße Luft durch die Gegend geschoben wird.

Der Sender kann es sich nicht leisten, seinen ersten Erfolg (auch im Ausland) wegen sowas aufs Spiel zu setzen.

Da ich noch irgendeine Serie schauen wollte, bevor mein Urlaub zuende ist, habe ich gestern abend mal mit dem Piloten angefangen... und bin vorhin mit der Staffel fertiggeworden. :lol:
Mir hat (fast) ausnahmslos jede Folge wirklich sehr gut gefallen und da ich ja erst später darauf gestoßen bin, muss ich auch nicht so lange auf Season 2 warten.

Cassie fand ich am Anfang ganz ok, zum Ende hin sah man ja leider nicht mehr so viel von ihr. Tony finde ich einfach nur... keine Ahnung. Der erinnert mich sehr stark an Zac Efron und da ich den ekelhaft finde... überträgt sich das.
Sid und Chris sind mir noch am Liebsten, die beiden find ich toll.

SKINS Series 2 startet Mitte Februar

Channel 4 aims to maximise Skins success

Channel 4 is to screen the second series of E4's hit teen drama Skins in the same week as the digital service in a bid to capitalise on its success.
The first series of Skins, about the lives and loves of a group of teenagers in Bristol, became E4's biggest UK-produced hit, pulling in 1.5 million viewers for its launch in January last year. Skins transferred to Channel 4 in October, where it pulled in around 1 million viewers, nine months after its E4 premiere.

Channel 4 has now decided to replicate the scheduling pattern of its other dramas such as Shameless and ER, which premiere on E4 and More4 respectively with a narrative repeat on the main network in the same week. The 10-episode second series of Skins, which will also see comedian Harry Enfield make his directing debut, launches in mid-February on E4.

"It is just a fantastic series and everyone wants to share it," the head of E4, Angela Jain, told MediaGuardian.co.uk at today's second-series press launch. "It has got a fantastic fan base and we are hoping more people will watch the second series."

Jain said she was already thinking about a third series, although no firm decision had been made. "It would be crazy at this stage to not be thinking about series three," she added. The series has also built up a big following online and E4 will seek to capitalise on this by screening the first episode of the new series on E4.com and MySpace, where the show has notched up more than 90,000 "friends".

However, the number of MySpace viewers will be capped at 2,000 to prevent any adverse impact on television ratings.

The broadcaster will also hold a series of six parties around the country before the launch of the new series, where the first episode will be shown on big screens before DJs and bands such as the New Young Pony Club take to the stage. Tickets will be available through E4.com and social networking sites such as MySpace and Bebo.

The first series of the drama developed a new approach to writing, with a number of new young writers brought on board to help develop scripts.

Several have now graduated to writing full episodes for the second series.

"We went further this year," said series co-creator Bryan Elsley, who came up with the idea for the show with his son Jamie Brittain.

"We are starting to bring our young writers through now. We have got some fantastic writers in their early 20s. There will be even more young writers on series three."

Jain said Skins was "completely channel defining" and that she was now looking for further dramas for the digital network, with another set to air by the end of the year.

TV debut for Portishead girl

A PORTISHEAD youngster makes her TV debut next month when the edgy drama Skins returns to our screens. Bernadette Moor, aged nine, who is a pupil at the Cheryl Rowlands School of Drama in the town, first auditioned for a part in the television programme, Mistresses, at the beginning of 2007.

She wasn't successful on that occasion but was recalled for a speaking part in Skins in the summer and not only did she get the part, but writers adjusted the script so that she could play a young person of her own name. Skins is a drama series about the antics of 17 and 18 year olds, it features troubled teens and their parents living in Britain and is aimed at an audience of young adults, it is not exactly suitable viewing for nine year olds.

Bernadette's father, Gregory, said: "Bernadette thoroughly enjoyed filming Skins and I was impressed how sensitive the production team were. They ensured everything the younger children were involved in was suitable for their age group. "I have explained to Bernadette that she will not be able to watch the whole programme in which she appears but we will record it and allow her to watch the scenes she is in."

Bernadette said: "I have always wanted to be an actress and this was a brilliant opportunity. I loved every minute and everyone was really nice to me." Skins premiered on E4 in January 2007 and ran on Channel 4 until October. The new series begins on Channel 4 in February.

Sie hätte die Haare wirklich braun lassen sollen ne Weile.

Das verplante liegt aber vllt auch daran das es Promos waren und das mit den brauen Haaren war aus so nem Heft.^^

mal ne ganz andere Frage.

Es sind ca noch knapp nen Monat hin bis Skins Series 2 startet und ich wollt nur mal fragen wer es wie und wann schaut ?

Also Poffel wird es wohl kaum 2 Minuten aushalten nachdem die Folge online sein wird und es schauen, aber wie verfahren die anderen ?

Werden dann die Folgen wöchentlich geschaut ? SChaut ihr die Staffel in 2 Teile ( also die ersten 5 Folgen und dann die restlichen 5 Folgen ? ) oder wartet ihr bis alle 10 Folgen da sind und schaut es dann in einem Rutsch ?


Ich bin mir ehrlich gesagt noch unsicher. Würden die US Autoren nicht streiken dann hätte ich was zum schauen und würde warten ( wie letztes Jahr ) und die Staffel komplett schauen ( was denke ich auch viel mehr spaß macht ), aber da ich nun nix hab bin ich mir noch so sicher....

ich werde se auch sofort gucken ... nachdem es ja sogut wie keine alternativen gibt und ich irgendwie die zeit zwischen acht und bett ueberbrucken muss.

Wenn ich alles auf einmal gucke ist das zuviel gutes auf einmal.

Also lieber häppchenweise damit ich auf jedes kleine Detail achten kann und net erdrückt werde von zuviel ^-^
