Ich verstehe nicht, warum Syfy überlegen sollte, The Event zu übernehmen. Ist nicht so, als hätte das eine große, loyale Hardcore-Fangemeinde. Ich bin mir nicht mal sicher, ob das eine kleine, loyale Hardcore-Fangemeinde hat. :?

Lieber Locke & Key, aber ich denke wir können uns schon darauf einstellen, dass der Pilot tot ist. Vielleicht auch besser so. Wer weiß, ob das mit einem kleineren Budget was werden würde. Immerhin gibt es den tollen Comic. Hoffentlich leakt der Pilot aber wenigstens.

Eine Rettung von Locke & Key wäre mir selbst ungesehen auch lieber, aber genau so würde ich mich ungesehen darüber freuen, wenn The Event auf diese Weise einen erfolgreichen Abschluß bekommt. Selbst wenn mir Event wider Erwarten nicht gefallen sollte, denn wenn das funktioniert, steigen für alle kommenden Genre-Flops die Chancen auf ein zweites Leben. Zumindest die von NBC. Die Kampagne für Awake wird gerüchtehalber schon vorbereitet. :lol:

Interview: Joe Hill talks Locke & Key


On a particularly rainy afternoon in central London, GeekChocolate sat down for a chat with author Joe Hill.

Joe is the son of world-famous author Stephen King and also wrote the best-selling short story collection 20th Century Ghost and the wildly successful Heart Shaped Box. He is known in the comics world as the author of Locke And Key, a property which was optioned for a television adaptation by Fox but turned down for the new season. Despite being at the end of a long morning of interviews, Hill was keen to talk to us about the show, and it’s (apparently strong) chances of airing in the future.

You’re still working on Locke and Key?

Yeah, Locke And Key is an ongoing comic that I’ve been writing now for three years. No, it’s been a little longer than that; it’s been going on four, four-and-a-half years. It’s been a while. I have 10 issues left to write and then that series is done.

Completely finished?

Completely finished. Although the world of Locke And Key is very big, and I have a great friend in my collaborator Gabriel Rodriguez, who draws the pictures, and I joke that Gabriel and I are like Unibrain. He’s my brother, my long-lost brother. He’s incredibly… he’s so funny and he just completes my ideas, we feed off each other. It’s been the perfect collaboration; we have so much fun working with each other. So we’re going to finish Locke And Key and we’re going to do some other comic projects together as well.

And there was a TV adaptation…

Yeah, the TV show, we have a pilot episode. It’s scary, emotionally engaging, and Fox passed on it. Essentially, Fox has slots for two or three slots for dramas and they have eight pilot episodes, so weren’t one of the ones they picked. But you know, I think we still have a chance to get on the air. Working on the comic, the comic is episodic fiction. I read a lot of comics and I’m inspired by a lot of comic book writers, but I’ve also watched a few shows, you know? Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, I read the comic of The Walking Dead as well, Dexter… these are all very scary, dark, bloody cable shows. And I think that Locke And Key also has the chance to surface on cable.

An AMC, HBO kind of thing?

A few channels have expressed interest; one channel has expressed a lot more than interest. Nothing is for certain, but I think that we have a fighting chance. You know, I’ve said this to everyone who’s asked about the show, it’s a shame that we’re doing interviews today, because I’m somewhere between four and ten days away from knowing for sure.

Oh really?

Yeah, we’ll have things figured out for sure one way or the other in the next two weeks.

Will you have to reshoot the pilot?

No, a lot of cable channels work by taking shows that have come from, or were produced for ABC, NBC or Fox, or whatever. These channels find their product that way, sometimes they produce their own stuff, but sometimes things are independently produced.

And your idea for that, would it be sticking quite true to the ideas of the comics, or would it diverge?

The pilot was very true to what’s in the comics. I think that the plan has always been in a given 12 episodes, one out of every three or four would be a mythology episode. And the mythology episode would be tightly based on one of the comics.



The other three episodes would be standalone stories, in the story, it’s about a family that moves to a house in Massachusetts, called Key House, and Key House is filled with wonderful keys. Wonderful and unlikely keys, and each key has a separate power. And I think the idea of the show is that on the non-mythology episodes, we’d explore a key.

The keys would work a little like the monsters in The X-Files. I think that could be terrifically entertaining, we’ll see what happens. I think that even if there isn’t a show then we have a fighting shot that the pilot will surface in some form. We’ll see what happens.

It was pitched as a film originally, wasn’t it?

It was pitched as a film, but early in the conversations about it, everyone started to say that maybe this is a TV series instead. And I advocated it for being a TV series, because my feeling was that in any movie you wouldn’t really have the chance to explore the keys, the way that you do in a TV show. I just thought that something more episodic makes sense for Locke And Key.

And there’s an option on Heart Shaped Box as well?

There’s an option on Heart Shaped Box, and Horns, and also recently a short story of mine called ‘Twittering From The Circus Of The Dead’ has been optioned. I’m sure there are a few things out there.

Josh Lucas To Star In NBC's 'The Firm'

EXCLUSIVE: Meet television's Mitchell McDeere. Josh Lucas is in final negotiations to play the lead in NBC's midseason drama The Firm, marking his first major TV series gig. The series, based on the hit Paramount feature starring Tom Cruise as McDeere and on John Grisham's best-selling novel, picks up the story 10 years after the events of the film and novel. As a young associate, McDeere brought down a prestigious Memphis law firm, which operated as a front for the Chicago mob -- and his life was never the same. After a difficult decade, which included a stay in the Federal Witness Protection program, Mitch and his family now emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future -- only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere. The Firm is produced by Entertainment One in association with Sony Pictures TV Networks and Paramount Pictures, with Grisham, Lukas Reiter, John Morayniss, Michael Rosenberg and Noreen Halpern executive producing. Lucas has been heavily pursued for series in the past few years but had largely stayed away before he responded to the script for The Firm. The WME-repped actor was most recently seen in the feature adaptation of another best-selling novel about an attorney, The Lincoln Lawyer. He just wrapped Medalian and will next be seen in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, in which he plays Charles Lindbergh, and Red Dog.

Bisher hat mich die Serie recht wenig interessiert, aber ich mag Josh Lucas sehr gerne und jetzt freue ich mich tatsächlich etwas auf The Firm.

Ich habe mich sowieso für "The Firm" (@ str1keteam: Hör auf es "Die Firma" zu nennen! ) gefreut. Aber mit Josh Lucas hat man jetzt einen guten Hauptdarsteller gefunden, bei dem ich mich ohnehin wunderte, dass der noch nicht im TV angekommen war. Denn sein "große" Filmkarriere dauerte ja nur von 2002-2006.

Josh Lucas fand ich bisher eher blass bis langweilig. Typischer TV-Schönling. Ich habe ihn aber auch nur in sehr wenigen Filmen gesehen (dabei sind unter den nicht gesehenen einige, die mich interessieren) und Sweet Home Alabama ist die einzige Rolle, die mir halbwegs in Erinnerung geblieben ist. Es ist aber nicht so schlimm, dass er mir das Interesse an "Die Firma" versauen würde. Das könnte nur ein zu hoher Proceduralanteil.

Sei froh, dass ich es nicht Die F.I.R.M.A nenne.

One of the U.K.'s hottest TV writers is taking aim at the U.S. with a series in development at HBO.

Danny Brocklehurst, whose credits include Brit breakouts "Shameless" and "Talk to Me," will write and exec produce "Dirty," a half-hour comedy about a Chicago cop involved in illicit affairs on and off the job.
Also exec producing are Caryn Mandabach and Andrea Arnold ("Fishtank"), with the latter attached to direct.

"It's a dream come true to work with HBO," Brocklehurst said. "People think the British make good television, but the Brits look at HBO and Showtime and say what they're doing is amazing."

Brocklehurst was head writer for BAFTA Award-winning "Shameless," which has since been adapted in the U.S. as a series on Showtime. He was not involved in the adaptation but found it fascinating to watch from afar.

"Starting over like that in the States and re-creating from the ground up with fabulous actors was exciting to see," he said of the William H. Macy skein. "It seems to worked in transition pretty well."

This isn't Brocklehurst's first try at the U.S. He developed drama pilot "Life After Marriage" with Shonda Rhimes for ABC, which ultimately passed on the project for the 2011-12 season.

"It was a very eye-opening experience working with ABC like that for a few months and seeing how they operate," Brocklehurst said. "It's a lot different than working in the U.K. I'm sure cable will be a different beast again."

Deswegen sagte ich ja auch meistens. Wenn der Originaltitel besser klingt, kann auch schon mal der hängen bleiben. Bei anderssprachigen Filmen (asiatisch, dänisch..was auch immer) benutzt man ja ohnehin meist den deutschen oder englischen Titel und nicht das Original.

The sets of the proposed Fox series "Locke & Key" will be dismantled at Pittsburgh's 31st Street Studios by the end of the month, which puts an end to any hope that a cable network may buy the series.

Deadline.com reported this week that Syfy may have been considering picking up "Locke," but late Wednesday a Fox spokesman confirmed that "Locke" will not go forward.

Fox filmed the "Locke" pilot in Pittsburgh earlier this year and there was hope in the local film production community that the city may finally have found its first locally-produced prime-time series. (Previously the Spike TV miniseries "The Kill Point" filmed in Pittsburgh in 2007 and several pilots, including FX's "Justified," have shot in Western Pennsylvania but no locally shot project has become a weekly television series that offers jobs for crew members nine months of the year.)

Based on a graphic novel by Joe Hill, "Locke & Key" is about a family that moves into a haunted New England mansion. Twentieth Century Fox Television developed "Locke" for the Fox broadcasting network, which opted not to move forward with a series last month.Source

Der Hollywood Reporter hat mal wieder Emmy Roundtables mit Showrunnern und Darstellern veranstaltet und ich möchte diese fantastischen Interviews wirklich jedem Serienjunkie empfehlen. Sie sind nicht nur sehr unterhaltsam, sondern auch sehr informativ was die TV-Branche angeht. Außerdem ist es einfach klasse mehrere seiner Helden am Tisch zusammen zu sehen, wie bei einem großen Crossover-Event. Die ca. 3,5 h sind mMn eine gute Investition.

Bei mir wollte Opera nicht, aber der FF hat es abgespielt. Den Produzenten zu lauschen macht wirklich Spaß, leider war Graham Yost etwas still.
Gerade höre ich die Darstellerinnen und wundere mich, dass Connie Britton noch nicht "Hey y'all" gesagt hat.
